SwitchCrafters was founded by me, Bruce Milligan, a garden railroader. When I first started my outdoor railroad, RWW Railways, I found it difficult to find a complete rail system to match rail, switches, and ties. Aluminum switches were only available in kits so I went with Nickel Silver code 250 switches. After about a year, the switches looked out of place. I decided to build my own aluminum switches to match the aluminum rail. After building many aluminum switches for my own layout, others started asking if I would build theirs. So SwitchCrafters was started in 2004.
Since then, I have added many other products to the product catalog to help make the "getting started in garden railroading" a pleasant experience for the new hobbyist and their families.
My desire is to offer well-made products at an affordable price so that more folks can enjoy this hobby. This is partly accomplished by keeping material costs down and continually improving manufacturing processes to ensure high quality products that meet the NMRA standards.
